Sunshine Blogger Award Nomination

Thank you so much to Travels with Thomosarus for nominating me for the Sunshine Blogger Award! I honestly thought my travel blog was going to completely crash and burn in one big mess so it’s so exciting to be nominated for this award that recognises bloggers who are adding value, inspiration, and positivity to the blogging community.

Here are my answers to Thomas’ questions:

How long have you been blogging for?

Technically I’ve been travel blogging since June 2017, but I only made my blog public in April this year because I was so worried that I’d just sound silly and ridiculous. I’m so glad that I finally did because it’s so much fun and I’m getting involved in some great projects with other fab bloggers!

Do you prefer holidays in hot countries or cold countries?

I think I like bits of both, as long as they’re not too extreme! If I’m way too cold then I can’t enjoy anything for fear of my fingers and toes falling off with frostbite, and if I’m too hot then I have to live in a constant state of bathing in Factor 50 suncream or else I’ll turn into a human freckle.

What’s your favourite thing about your blog?

I think my favourite thing about my blog is the complete creative freedom it gives you – it’s such a great platform to experiment with different types of content! There’s absolutely no pressure to get everything right first time so it’s a really great way to grow as a writer.

If you could go back in time what period of history would you choose and why?

As a history graduate I feel like I should be saying something more creative than this, but I honestly think I’d like to go back and grow up in the 1970s/1980s. They had amazing music and absolutely zero social media, I’m sold.

What’s the one thing you can’t leave your house without?

My headphones! I have a massive pair of overear headphones that keep all the noise out so I can get through my daily commute with zero communication. (The only time this backfires is when I need to talk to the train conductor or something and end up shouting all the way to Timbuktu because my music is still playing.)

What’s your biggest achievement on your blog?

I think my biggest achievement on my blog is the layout/design? I don’t like to take my work too seriously but I’m actually really proud of how I’ve made my blog look. There are bits of it that probably need sorting out in the back end but I don’t want to do that so I won’t. See, complete freedom! Take that, SEO.)

Are you an early bird or a night owl?

DEFINITELY a night owl – I’m the worst morning person you’ll ever see. I do not understand people who say morning is their favourite and most productive time of day – HOW?! (I think the only time being a night owl hasn’t worked for me is when I was trying to finish my uni dissertation at 4am but couldn’t remember what words were anymore).

If you could choose one country to travel to, where you haven’t been before, what would it be and why?

Canada! It’s right at the top of my bucket list and I’m currently researching the best way for me to get there and how to see as much of it as I can.

What’s your favourite type of food?

Does tea count as food?

Do you have any blogging goals for 2018 and what are they?

I think my goals for the rest of 2018 are to connect with more travel bloggers on WordPress, and also to see where I can go with my own blog. I have a couple of exciting collaborations on the go and an idea for a new blog series which I need to start work on so exciting times ahead!

What TV show are you binge watching at the moment?

I have a habit of binge watching loads of TV shows at the same time. At the minute it’s a combination of Peep Show, Arrested Development, and Friends.
